With all the shit that went on over the past few months I sent my blog link to The Ministry Of Aboriginal Affairs about Urban Native Homes Inc. listing my concerns and complaints about KMHC. Yesterday I received a phone call from a representative of the Ministry Of Aboriginal Affairs. They read my blog and the Urban Native Homes Inc. website. They are not a financial supporter of UNH’s so she gave me some excellent suggestions and pointed me to the right direction. I’m not going into detail what we spoke about but l will say this, the Government is watching Urban Native Homes Inc.
On other news: Tenant Marie has given her notice she’s not happy here and is moving to London to live with her sister. I gave her a big hug and wished her good luck in her future. She’s always been nice to me. As for me I go about my business and I'm getting on with life. I don't pay attention to what goes on around KMHC unless it involves me.
The atmosphere around the building is dismal, the office staff has barricaded themselves in the basement core of the building, signs are up and doors are constantly locked, now tenants must phone to make an appointment before entering the reception area. Personally this doesn’t bother me because I rarely went into the office.
Last time I heard any laughter in the hallway was before Christmas. There is only one active program for the tenants at KMHC which is Nutritional Bingo hosted by Sandra Waboose of the Hamilton Aboriginal Health Centre.
Luke the cleaner - Looks like this young native man is gone. The last time I saw him, the Super & him were shoveling snow off the driveway. Luke’s been here as a part time cleaner for about 2 years. It’s been said older natives resent young people but not me, I find it refreshing to see our future generation developing good work ethics. I’ve had a few chats with the young man, he has career plans and doesn’t want to be pushing a broom for the rest of his life. Before the holidays I asked him why he never attends any the functions held in the community room, he replied “he was never invited” can you imagine that! The man's been here for 2 years and UNH’s/ KMHC never invited him. Sad to say the least. :(

I do have some good news Tenant Teresa invited me to a tenant-Swiss Chalet luncheon on Feb 15, 2013 held at the community room. I thanked her for the invite. And over the weekend I saw former UNH's employee Denise Maracle at Jackson Square mall, I smiled and gave her a wave. :)
