Late Wednesday afternoon while talking on the phone I heard
a knock on my door. I wasn’t expecting anyone
so I thought who could it be! I looked
out the door viewer and I see a tiny figure with a walker I was totally blown away….it's tenant elder Miss Judy. You see
Judy and I have been friends since she moved here then during the Christmas season 2016
her health declined rapidly and was hospitalized. According to her family she will not be
coming back to KMHC instead will be moved to a retirement home. Anyway
she’s baaaack and looking well rested. I
reminded her to take it easy and not get stressed out. Since she had no food in her unit she asked
me to go to the store and pick up bread, luncheon meat and diet pop for
her. No problem I said. :)

I’ve known Judy’s family since I was a little kid running
around the streets of Cabbagetown. Her
mother Jean and companion Monroe were friends with my father and Judy’s sister
Gladie was my babysitter. When I first
met Judy and found out her last name it all came full circle. One evening we had a long talk and found out
she had a hard life and yet she’s still kicking. The passing of two tenants in 2017 has been
gloomy & sad around KMHC and I’m so glad to see a ray of sunshine show up in the form
of Miss Judy. Welcome home. :)
Re: HOW Lynda Jones.
Judy said while in the hospital she called and asked Lynda if she could
have my phone number. It’s against UNH’s
policy to give out tenant personal information and I agree. As an alternative Lynda should have offered to
pass me a message Judy is trying to get a hold of me in which case I would have
responded immediately by visiting the hospital. My view of Lynda Jones is still
the same as it was when I called her out a few years ago in the community room
in front of her co-worker. I think
she’s useless, unable to connect with most Native tenants and always pissing
someone off, time to go Lynda. :(
Happenings around KMHC – As some may know I had a run in
with our neighbor across the street over trespassing on private property. I would like to inform KMHC tenants at any time
should you want to sit in the courtyard and see Dunduran Place staff, residence
and their affiliates occupying our sitting area you can instruct them to leave. Politely remind them they are trespassing on
private property and that the courtyard is reserved for native elders and their
guests only. For the full story click the link.
