I & friend Teresa Last week I attended a program host by NWC Hamilton, it was there I met up with six female tenants of KMHC.   It was nice to see the ladies again I was greeted with hugs and smiles.   The program was Holistic teachings by Jane Burning she spoke about the Creator and positive thinking.   I enjoyed the presentation though it was a wee bit long.   During lunch break I had the chance to chat with the KMHC tenants to find out how’s life going at KMHC.   Things haven’t improved most tenants don’t like each other and there’s a lot of negative energy in the building.   I offered a sympathetic ear and didn’t judge as they shared their stories. Yesterday I attended a ‘Celebration of Life’ gathering at De dwa da dehs nye s Aboriginal Health Centre in Hamilton.   KMHC tenant little Debbie lost her son due to unfortunate circumstances and I wanted to personally offer my condolences.   I can’t imagine the loss of a child no matter how old they are.   I’ve known little Debbie for 10 years and we are members of the same First Nation's band. I’ve never visited De dwa da dehs nye s Aboriginal Health Centre before, thankfully I didn’t get lost. Hello again readers It’s spring time and I’m ready to share what happened before and after I moved out of KMHC.   Last year when OAHS and I came to an agreement on a move out date I immediately applied for housing at three agencies, two in Hamilton and one in Toronto, my applications was accepted and put on the waiting list. I also began looking around for an apartment, the idea to procrastinate was out of the question.   My plan was to look around for the best accommodation at reasonable rent.   In my search I found rents are too high and the apartments I want are not affordable in this city.   I had to compromise by renting a shared accommodation, after putting my furniture in storage I reluctantly moved to my new place.   After a few months I was doing well to the point the landlord offered me a position as building superintendent/manager.   I respectfully declined the offer because I didn’t want the responsibility.   My objective was to g...

Hello Bloggers yes it’s been that long since I moved out of KMHC, of the nine years I lived there I’ve made friends and acquaintances and kept in touch via phone and social media.   By invitation I would occasionally drop by to visit tenant elder Judy Becker.  She likes to cook supper and we share laughs and life experiences.   I offer praise and encouragement to tenant Judy as she battles her demons. During the last week of January I bought silver seat tickets to see the Aboriginal play ‘Crees In The Caribbean’ at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton and I thought who would appreciate live theatre and would like to accompany me!   I immediately thought of my former next door neighbor and friend Bernadeen at KMHC.   During my tenure at KMHC we got along fine. A few weeks later my plan is to visit tenant Judy for coffee, then precede to knock on Bernadeen's door and escort her to Theatre Aquarius and watch the play.   Sounds like the perfect evening, right!...

Old Marquee This blogsite has been private to select readers for many moons and is now open to the public.   For a few years I’ve been thinking of moving out of KMHC yet I didn’t put much effort into it, I needed a kick start and that’s what OAHS did.   Earlier this year there was a dispute pending between I and OAHS legal department, the issue was not about nonpayment of rent or damage of rental property nor causing a noise disturbance in the building.  Their issue was the content written in this blog site.   The nefarious tenant Aunt Opie complained her human rights were violated claiming mental distress and was falling apart.  In reality she should lay off the booze & prescription drugs, be responsible and stop blaming others for her own mistakes.  From my observation OAHS legal representative Dale Skvereckas used tenant Aunt Opie as a pawn.   On my next blog I’ll share my insight and the resolution at the Landlord & Tenant media...

Urban Native Homes Inc. will no longer exist.   Today and tomorrow Ciy of Hamilton/Ontario Aboriginal Housing Human Resources Dept. are interviewing UNH staff and other applicants in the community room.   Who will be rehired and who will be fired!   I just hope they choose wisely. Tonight I heard Christine Lenze, her mother Ingrid Nosel and the rest of their family and friends has left UNH. This evening before I left for the gym I ran into receptionist Melissa Wissner in the hallway.   She was waiting for her job interview and had a message for me from former UNH caseworker Crystal Mackenzie.  Crystal wishes me good luck and it was a pleasure working with me.  I was surprised by the message and I wish her the best too. :) My blog site has accomplished what I started out to do some years ago by publicly outing the mismanagement of Urban Native Homes Inc.  It's been a long arduous journey. A few things happened at KMHC since my last blog.   In regard to the UNH transportation van after a long absence I signed up as a passenger to a recent event held at Native Women Centre.   Driver Rachel George was courteous and there was no inappropriate conversation during the 15 min. trip.   There’s been a lot of talk about the UNH transportation van and what it’s been used for & yet I can’t comment on any monkey business.  The Native Women Centre presentation was informative, interesting and I had the chance to meet new people at the program.  At the end there was a raffle draw and I won a sleeping bag. :)  As part of the transitional process new instructions were posted at the KMHC entrance.   Urban Native Homes Inc. will not accept housing applications.   Application for housing can be obtained by going to the Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services website their office is based in Sault Ste.
