Tribute to Albert Decaire

On Thursday evening I was informed by a dear friend and former next door KMHC neighbour there will be a ceremony for the late Albert Decaire at the KMHC courtyard on Friday and I was invited to be her escort.  I have good memories of Uncle Albert, when he moved in some years ago I gave him the nickname from the classic Paul McCartney hit song Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey.  He got a kick out of it. ðŸ˜Š

The best part of the ceremony is when Luke Johns dressed in Native attire performed native songs and a prayer.  Being a former tenant of KMHC for nine years I have made friends along way, even though it was not a social event many tenants approached me with hugs and greetings.  With the family’s permission a few photos were taken of the ceremony that I will share in this blog post.

Now I will mention the disruption at the ceremony caused by the nefarious Aunt Opie aka Joan Frame.  She doesn’t realize I was there to say goodbye to Uncle Albert and nothing else, yet she chose to be disruptive and disrespectful to Albert’s memory by complaining to staff, making a scene in the middle and end of the ceremony.  I stood silently in the driveway and calmly observed her actions.  Poor Crystal Mackenze had to babysit Aunt Opie it was like she needed her diaper changed she wouldn’t stop whining and sounded poopy.

It was nice to say hello to Luke, Crystal and Sandra Waboose.  As I was about the leave OAHS staff member Jessica Smith felt the need to say something to me about a no trespassing notice that was never delivered to me personally.  I chose not to waste my time talking to a unknown mere junior office clerk instead I encourage OAHS property manager Meghan McCarville to pick up the phone and let’s conclude our conversation from three months ago.

It was a nice RIP ceremony and when it was over, I hopped on my bike and left for another appointment.

Poor Working Environment

My unit is located near the KMHC office, along with a friendly wave or hello I see the junior staff going about their business in a cheerful manner with the exception of one employee.   You would think KMHC has a pleasant working environment but that is not the case.   March 2016 is when Urban Native Homes head office was forced to move from their former spacious location to the cramp basement level of KMHC.   There were approx. 8-10 staff members at the time.   Then the Urban Native Homes financial scandal broke out and soon after the current UNH acting director’s illicit past became public knowledge, everyone was worried will they have a job.  Fearful meetings going on in the community room, the rumor mill was in full rotation while I just stood back and observed the panic.   Check your search engine it states this building location is Urban Native Homes head office yet that is not correct.  There is no real head office, the organization has s...

Wigwamin Terrace

After many years I received a call for Toronto Native Housing offering a vacancy so I decided to explore my options by attending a viewing of what's available. But first I did a phone interview with acting project manager Paul Feitelberg. He said my personal and financial information checks out fine then we talked about the negative reference I got from Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services. I was asked for my side of the story and I also invited Paul to read this blog site to find out more who I am.  A few days later I called Paul for an update, I was complimented on my blog posts and he could see the love and compassion I have for the Native people on this blog site.  Due to the Hamilton cyber attack it was difficult for Paul get a reference from my current housing provider so with my assistance I helped him get in contact with their office. I received an excellent tenant reference from my housing provider. When I asked about OAHS he said he's going to ignore their negative re...

The End Is Here

Urban Native Homes Inc. will no longer exist.   Today and tomorrow Ciy of Hamilton/Ontario Aboriginal Housing Human Resources Dept. are interviewing UNH staff and other applicants in the community room.   Who will be rehired and who will be fired!   I just hope they choose wisely. Tonight I heard Christine Lenze, her mother Ingrid Nosel and the rest of their family and friends has left UNH. This evening before I left for the gym I ran into receptionist Melissa Wissner in the hallway.   She was waiting for her job interview and had a message for me from former UNH caseworker Crystal Mackenzie.  Crystal wishes me good luck and it was a pleasure working with me.  I was surprised by the message and I wish her the best too. :) My blog site has accomplished what I started out to do some years ago by publicly outing the mismanagement of Urban Native Homes Inc.  It's been a long arduous journey. I would like to thank anonymous and the others for thei...
