My door |
Last week KMHC had a Halloween door decoration contest. As you can see in the pix I didn’t put much
effort in the decoration so I didn’t expect to win anything. On Halloween day I got two surprises delivered under my
door. For participating I receive a $5.00 Tim Horton gift card and my first UNH
letter from Crystal M. not knowing what
to expect I opened the letter ‘will I be pissed off or delighted’. Actually I was delighted for the first time
since 2013 it was a ‘Notice of no change in rent” and it required my signature.
I
knew my rent would be the same yet I do not trust UNH & it’s best to get
written confirmation. I don’t want my
name involved in their UNH rent subsidy scandal.
No worries I’m still basking in the glory but don’t expect the landlord and I to be sitting around a campfire holding hands and singing songs. I still have unanswered management questions and
their lack of decorum is appalling.
It’s
been over for a week and nobody has removed the Halloween tree stuff. With the
high winds and rain the KMHC courtyard looks a mess.
Top story - For the past few weeks I’ve been sharing and
reading comments posted in a previous blog from individuals about UNH’s
Kenatah Housing Complex located in Stoney Creek, Ontario. They could be tenants or UNH staff yet it
doesn’t matter to me, what matters they have something important to say. I visited Kenatah Housing Complex once during the
summer to drop off some papers and wouldn’t you know it the office was closed
yet the old UNH van was parked nearby. I
was not impressed, so after looking around
the office area and speaking to a young native girl I became curious what do
the tenants think of the landlord, do they experience the same problems as KMHC,
do they like where they live and is there room for improvement!
My questions were answered and I’m posting a link to the
blog. I invite the general public, sponsors
and Hamilton city officials to check out the 70+ ongoing comments written about
UNH.
Last but not least, Remembrance Day is coming up please
purchase a poppy in honor of the Native Veterans who fought for our
freedom. My father was one of them.
Tk.
