For the past 5+ years tenants have limited internet access in
the community room. I mean limited in
the true sense of the word. Some years
ago there was a notice posted on the wall tenants who have internet in their
unit were banned from using the KMHC computers which I thought was stupid. Then there was another notice posted on the
wall about internet trolls and UNH’s used Wikipedia. I thought Really!! They are using that website
as a reference. :P Nobody paid any attention to the asinine notices
and moved on. There was a few times when
I helped a fellow tenant search for general information by using a reputable
search engine.
Today there’s a notice on the community room door UNH’s has
discontinued computer and internet access to tenants. From what I’ve witnessed the regular group of
tenants use the computers to play games, check their e-mail or look up
information. I doubt anybody went on
porn and inappropriate chat sites especially when a tenant has to sign in and a
security camera is facing the computer table straight on. In this technology advanced age internet
access is a necessity not a privilege. Native
elders on a fixed income and can’t get around easily should have free internet
access in the KMHC building.
Community work – This summer KMHC staff really let the front
entrance go to pot. Out of frustration four
times I went outside to trim the trees using a pair of scissors and my own
trash bags to pick up the leaves. Normally
I clean the windows for tenants on my floor which I don’t mind doing. The KMHC staff observe this on their recorded
security cameras and yet they don’t know how to express appreciation they only
know how to call the cops. :P
The new program guy David seems ok, I've heard good thing about him. I notice programs being posted
on the bulletin board inviting tenants to attend. Mind you they don’t really interest me
because I’ve already attended them in the past. My
memory hasn’t gone yet there’s no use in sitting through a repetitious program.
Fellow tenants – Often I get a laugh sitting with tenants
in the courtyard on a bright sunny day. This is where they dish the dirt, talk about the latest
scandals and share opinions. :D This
is also the area where UNH’s has no control what tenants say about management
and staff. Which reminds me UNH’s handed out survey forms to tenants their objective is to find out what
tenants think “Living @ KMHC” followed by bingo hosted by HSC Ingrid. I assume
going the survey route is safer for UNH’s. We use to have tenant meetings in the community room but UNH’s abolished
that. Can you imagine having a general tenant
meeting today! UNH’s management would be "scalped and skinned alive" by outspoken native tenants. Meanwhile I’d be picking the Acting Director’s
brain on her shady past and I’ll remind my fellow tenants to check their wallets
and purse before she exits the meeting. :D
Next month is Halloween I plan on posting some scary
pictures and yes HOW Lynda you are included.
Until next time.
