Christine Has Left The Building.



Christine Demik came to KMHC less than two years ago she was Charles Jacobs replacement.  At first I thought she was a nice young lady, friendly and seems helpful.  Then the UNH’s curse took possession and soon her personality changed she became unfriendly, stoic and complacent.  Christine and Lynda are two UNH’s outreach workers who I assume were equal.  They had their duties then last year I noticed what was really going on, Lynda Jones is on a power trip and determined to take over KMHC.  Lynda actually said to me at our last meeting “From now on you will only talk to me, not Christine!”  I thought “up yours woman! I don’t take orders from someone I despise”.  From that point on I haven’t spoken to Lynda Jones or Christine.  
Good Luck to Christine Demik I've never had anything against the young lady and she made a wise decision to take a job offer on the mountain.  IMO she would be wasting her time being employed at UNH's/KMHC.  I can’t see any advancement being confined in an office/warehouse basement.  Poor Lynda from now on she’ll have to take the Cannon or King Street bus route to get home, no more free rides from Christine.  :P
On other news!  KMHC tenant Elders were disappointed UNH’s didn’t offer a ride to Duane’s funeral instead the office staff closed up shop and went themselves.  In the past KMHC tenants were always offered a ride to a fallen tenant’s funeral.   :(
According to Mr. Google the UNH’s head office building is up for sale and plans to move to the men’s residence on Kenilworth Ave.  How ironic!  The renovated Kenilworth building has been a financial money pit from the start.
Thanksgiving weekend celebrations was a blast, I went to a dinner function hosted by the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre aka HRIC at the Ukrainian banquet hall located at east Hamilton. A small group of us tenants sat and enjoyed the feast.  The next day another dinner at a friend’s place.  I swear to God!  No turkey dinners until Christmas.  I’ll have to do double workouts at the gym.
Speaking of Christmas remember the blog I wrote last year about select tenants not receiving any gifts from their wish list!  It took the UNH's/KMHC staff 10 months to come up with a written excuse on why certain native elders were excluded.  This year I’m not even going to waste my time submitting a wish gift item.  Why be disappointed twice.

It should be noted Miss Demik is now banned from entering KMHC. A UNH's asinine rule when a employee leaves the Mickey Mouse organization. :)

Poor Working Environment

My unit is located near the KMHC office, along with a friendly wave or hello I see the junior staff going about their business in a cheerful manner with the exception of one employee.   You would think KMHC has a pleasant working environment but that is not the case.   March 2016 is when Urban Native Homes head office was forced to move from their former spacious location to the cramp basement level of KMHC.   There were approx. 8-10 staff members at the time.   Then the Urban Native Homes financial scandal broke out and soon after the current UNH acting director’s illicit past became public knowledge, everyone was worried will they have a job.  Fearful meetings going on in the community room, the rumor mill was in full rotation while I just stood back and observed the panic.   Check your search engine it states this building location is Urban Native Homes head office yet that is not correct.  There is no real head office, the organization has s...

The Ladies of KMHC

I & friend Teresa Last week I attended a program host by NWC Hamilton, it was there I met up with six female tenants of KMHC.   It was nice to see the ladies again I was greeted with hugs and smiles.   The program was Holistic teachings by Jane Burning she spoke about the Creator and positive thinking.   I enjoyed the presentation though it was a wee bit long.   During lunch break I had the chance to chat with the KMHC tenants to find out how’s life going at KMHC.   Things haven’t improved most tenants don’t like each other and there’s a lot of negative energy in the building.   I offered a sympathetic ear and didn’t judge as they shared their stories. The big problem with KMHC is tenant Aunt Opie and I’m glad she didn’t attend the NWC program.   You may recall I spoke of her in past blogs, aunt Opie’s negativity spreads throughout KMHC.   She brags about sending false complaint e-mails about tenants and staff to Justin the head direc...

Sandy Holland

On February 27th 2025 I heard the passing of tenant Elder Sandy Holland. I knew she was in bad health and said to her friend she's ready to go.  I met her years ago when she moved to KMHC she seem a bit daffy yet in a nice way, never spoke mean about others but had strong opinions about UNH staff. We would meet at UNH dinner functions and meetings and always offered me hug. She never got personal sharing her life stories with me which I can respect. RIP
