2015

It’s a new year so I was thinking what topic can I write about maybe something amusing like fellow tenant Sid who on a cold day locked and left his truck keys in the ignition and I helped retrieve them.  :)  Then yesterday something magical happened there was a knock on my door, a paralegal delivered a letter from UNH’s.  I had a sense this was coming I knew the HSC would blow things out of proportion. The 2.5 page letter was from the ramblings of a unstable woman (the HSC) and to say I’ve been banned.  How many renters out there in the world had at least one disagreed or complaints with their landlord!  Millions I’m sure.  UNH’s is not perfect and they don’t reign supreme when it comes to subsidized rental units or houses in Hamilton, Ontario.  Recently I had a personal chat with a former tenant who rented a house from UNH’s and said in detail they’ve been screwed by the organization.  Anyway this morning I decided to respond by sending a fax letter to the UNH’s Director.  Here is an excerpt:

I received a letter “Ongoing Staff Concerns” written and delivered by paralegal Dale Skvereckas, the content is less than 50% accurate.  I assume Ingrid Nosel instructed Dale to write it, your HSC is known for inaccurate reporting.  The writings on the letter are similar to what Danny Joseph received when he lived at KMHC.
The letter describes me as a person filled with hostility and aggression. I disagree, I’m a no nonsense type of person with strong opinions and I resent the false accusation.  At no time were hostile threats uttered to Ingrid Nosel back in December. 2012 and no hostile threats were uttered to the junior staff on December 22. 2014.  Any criticism I had with a staff member was strictly professional on how they do the job.
As for the restrictions you imposed, I’m banned from KMHC outreach programs, entering the office and speaking to the office staff.  I’m way ahead of you.  For the past few years I rarely entered the office or attend any KMHC programs, I’ve never shown up at UNH’s head office unannounced and I do my laundry at an outside facility.  Two reasons for this, your asinine policies and the additional installation of tenant surveillance cameras in the building I therefore decided not to participate.
After the disastrous short meeting of Dec.22, 2014 and UNH’s not fulfilling the KMHC tenants Christmas wish list, I have no desire to speak to the KMHC office staff or submit any updates.  I have no problem with the new maintenance work order procedure in fact I prefer it that way.  My blog post “HOW Lynda Jones” is fact and I stand by it.

Btw Ms. Deeley warning UNH’s staff not to talk to tenants or risk being terminated is wrong.  Not only do you ban former staff who gave excellent service from UNH’s property now you’re doing it to tenants.
I’m addressing this letter to you as per Dale Skvereckas written instruction.

The video camera in the community room will show me entering the room carrying an envelope while Christine was cleaning the kitchen counter. When she unexpectedly left for a moment to fetch Lynda Jones I was looking at the wall pictures. I sat at the table facing the opposite direction of the security camera I wanted the camera to capture the ladies during our meeting. Not once did I move or get up from my seat or pose any threatening gestures to the HOW's. Soon after Christine was the first to get up and leave then Lynda followed. The video will be my defense.

Wigwamin Terrace

After many years I received a call for Toronto Native Housing offering a vacancy so I decided to explore my options by attending a viewing of what's available. But first I did a phone interview with acting project manager Paul Feitelberg. He said my personal and financial information checks out fine then we talked about the negative reference I got from Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services. I was asked for my side of the story and I also invited Paul to read this blog site to find out more who I am.  A few days later I called Paul for an update, I was complimented on my blog posts and he could see the love and compassion I have for the Native people on this blog site.  Due to the Hamilton cyber attack it was difficult for Paul get a reference from my current housing provider so with my assistance I helped him get in contact with their office. I received an excellent tenant reference from my housing provider. When I asked about OAHS he said he's going to ignore their negative re...

The Ladies of KMHC

I & friend Teresa Last week I attended a program host by NWC Hamilton, it was there I met up with six female tenants of KMHC.   It was nice to see the ladies again I was greeted with hugs and smiles.   The program was Holistic teachings by Jane Burning she spoke about the Creator and positive thinking.   I enjoyed the presentation though it was a wee bit long.   During lunch break I had the chance to chat with the KMHC tenants to find out how’s life going at KMHC.   Things haven’t improved most tenants don’t like each other and there’s a lot of negative energy in the building.   I offered a sympathetic ear and didn’t judge as they shared their stories. The big problem with KMHC is tenant Aunt Opie and I’m glad she didn’t attend the NWC program.   You may recall I spoke of her in past blogs, aunt Opie’s negativity spreads throughout KMHC.   She brags about sending false complaint e-mails about tenants and staff to Justin the head direc...

Koo Gaa Da Win Manitou

I hope one day we can truly say there is a haven where older natives who experienced homelessness can find a place to call home and have the resources available for the best quality of life in their golden years. Koo Ga Da Win Manitou Housing Complex has a long journey in order to reach that goal. Perhaps more funding is needed or better trained/experienced outreach workers who can relate to tenants concerns and health issues. Programs that would interest all tenants as a whole would be nice. Most important we tenants must try to get along with their neighbours. (as the good book says "Love thy neighbour") I've been here less then a year and I've observed alot, we have a diversity of tenants living in the building from different reservations and walks of life. Some have problems with alcohol, prescription drug addictions, physical disabilities and slight mental disabilities. The one thing we all have in common is our health concerns, from chronic back pain to deadly...
