No Pictures Please

Last week tenants were delivered a permission form from KMHC to allow staff to take photographs of tenants during programs and events.  In black magic marker I wrote "No" across the page and cheerfully returned the letter to the empty office.  The reason being: years ago at a luncheon held in the community room I noticed the staff walking about the room taking photos of tenants without asking permission. Some tenants didn’t like it so I curiously leaned over to ask Janis Lewis the UNH’s Director “why and what do they do with the photos?”  She vaguely replied we make a collage.  I didn’t go any further on the subject but it did make me suspicious, if so where is this collage displayed and who sees it, certainly not in the community room. :P  With the recent installation of security cameras used for tenant surveillance in the KMHC building hallways, grounds and the community room, the last thing I want is to pose for a photo op.  Anyway KMHC staff can capture a still photo from any security camera and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are doing it now.  Hey I have an idea!  I’ll take a selfie of me scratching me arse and UNH’s can stick that in their collage.  LOL  :D
On another topic: I feel sorry for my next door neighbour Deloris ever since UNH’s removed the park bench from the building entrance area she’s had difficulty sitting outside to relax and enjoy the weather.  The courtyard benches are far from the building entrance and separated by a parking driveway and a large waste and storage bin. During the summer of 2014 Deloris would bring out her white plastic chair and sit quietly near the entrance door, she feels safe sitting near the building.  Anyway get this bloggers!  Recently as I approached the building I noticed Deloris sitting alone in the parking lot, so I asked her why she’s there, she replied KMHC staff told her she can’t sit near the entrance door anymore and was instructed to “Sit Under A Tree.”  Can you believe that!  How disappointing.  I don’t understand why UNH’s can’t bang their heads together and figure out a better solution.
I’m fortunate, I have a great group of tenants on my floor and we look out for each other by being supportive and helpful in their own way.  :)
The first week of August 2014 I received my annual rent review forms from H.O.W. Christine.  I’ll tell you more on my next blog.

See UNH's you're not the centre of the universe.  :P

Poor Working Environment

My unit is located near the KMHC office, along with a friendly wave or hello I see the junior staff going about their business in a cheerful manner with the exception of one employee.   You would think KMHC has a pleasant working environment but that is not the case.   March 2016 is when Urban Native Homes head office was forced to move from their former spacious location to the cramp basement level of KMHC.   There were approx. 8-10 staff members at the time.   Then the Urban Native Homes financial scandal broke out and soon after the current UNH acting director’s illicit past became public knowledge, everyone was worried will they have a job.  Fearful meetings going on in the community room, the rumor mill was in full rotation while I just stood back and observed the panic.   Check your search engine it states this building location is Urban Native Homes head office yet that is not correct.  There is no real head office, the organization has s...

Sandy Holland

On February 27th 2025 I heard the passing of tenant Elder Sandy Holland. I knew she was in bad health and said to her friend she's ready to go.  I met her years ago when she moved to KMHC she seem a bit daffy yet in a nice way, never spoke mean about others but had strong opinions about UNH staff. We would meet at UNH dinner functions and meetings and always offered me hug. She never got personal sharing her life stories with me which I can respect. RIP

The Ladies of KMHC

I & friend Teresa Last week I attended a program host by NWC Hamilton, it was there I met up with six female tenants of KMHC.   It was nice to see the ladies again I was greeted with hugs and smiles.   The program was Holistic teachings by Jane Burning she spoke about the Creator and positive thinking.   I enjoyed the presentation though it was a wee bit long.   During lunch break I had the chance to chat with the KMHC tenants to find out how’s life going at KMHC.   Things haven’t improved most tenants don’t like each other and there’s a lot of negative energy in the building.   I offered a sympathetic ear and didn’t judge as they shared their stories. The big problem with KMHC is tenant Aunt Opie and I’m glad she didn’t attend the NWC program.   You may recall I spoke of her in past blogs, aunt Opie’s negativity spreads throughout KMHC.   She brags about sending false complaint e-mails about tenants and staff to Justin the head direc...
