The Iron Lady Of Urban Native Homes Inc.

My version of the Director asking the Govt for $$$. :D
Today's topic is about the Director of UNH's I get the impression her and Ingrid are joined at the hip.  The Director is a sneaky one I can remember former tenant Bob said he was once called to the office there was a heated discussion with Ingrid and Janis the Director was hiding in another room ready to pounce on him.  Bob was the last original tenant in this building, we had many discussions about Janis & Ingrid before he moved out so I have all the dirt on those bitches.  Another tenant told me the Director has been known to park outside the building with her husband at night watching tenants and I personally heard her a few times yelling at the KMHC staff.  She got bitchy with me once in the community room in front of former staff members she's lucky I didn't tell her where to go.  Recently I noticed a few good employees at head office are no longer there, moral is low and the place is falling apart due to the Director’s tyrant behavior.
An informant said, job security for junior staff and excellent working conditions have no meaning in the wasteland of Urban Native Homes Inc. If you're thinking of a career with UNH's you'd be better off applying at a temp agency,  I've been told when asked a question the Director replies "We Have No Money!" LOL
The Director doesn't like confrontation which explains why the outspoken, opinionated and popular employees are thrown under the bus, I mean have you ever seen what the Director looks like in broad daylight?.....Yikes!
Fortunately we have “tenant rights” I don’t have to bow to the Director and the Acting HSC as they walk by nor do I have to kiss their ass.  There is only one current staff employee I like and respect and would you believe the person is non native.  Board members you have the power...use it wisely.
A few weeks ago I went to the head office to pay the rent and the new person at the front desk kept screwing up on the money count and I had to correct her.  So is this what we have to look forward to…incompetent trainees at head office!  I don’t know about you but I’m impressed. :P

“The Gathering Place” is a renovated 8 apartment facility soon to open at the end of the year, the goal is accommodation for homeless native men in Hamilton.  My criticism to the UNH's project:  Just 8 apartments above a noisy banquet hall in a run down east side area of the city and they got funding for this!  I hardly think this will make a difference to the homeless issue we have in the city of Hamilton.  I do have a suggestion for UNH’s…..ship Ingrid Nosel to the location and watch the place crumble. :D

July 19, 2012  The rumor mill is turning, I heard UNH's is being sued by a contractor...What happened Janis not paying the bills?  *snickers*

Update - Reading this blog Director Janis Lewis has moved on to another job and "The Gathering Place" had and is still going through many problems. I'm amazed my predictions came true. :)

Poor Working Environment

My unit is located near the KMHC office, along with a friendly wave or hello I see the junior staff going about their business in a cheerful manner with the exception of one employee.   You would think KMHC has a pleasant working environment but that is not the case.   March 2016 is when Urban Native Homes head office was forced to move from their former spacious location to the cramp basement level of KMHC.   There were approx. 8-10 staff members at the time.   Then the Urban Native Homes financial scandal broke out and soon after the current UNH acting director’s illicit past became public knowledge, everyone was worried will they have a job.  Fearful meetings going on in the community room, the rumor mill was in full rotation while I just stood back and observed the panic.   Check your search engine it states this building location is Urban Native Homes head office yet that is not correct.  There is no real head office, the organization has s...

The Ladies of KMHC

I & friend Teresa Last week I attended a program host by NWC Hamilton, it was there I met up with six female tenants of KMHC.   It was nice to see the ladies again I was greeted with hugs and smiles.   The program was Holistic teachings by Jane Burning she spoke about the Creator and positive thinking.   I enjoyed the presentation though it was a wee bit long.   During lunch break I had the chance to chat with the KMHC tenants to find out how’s life going at KMHC.   Things haven’t improved most tenants don’t like each other and there’s a lot of negative energy in the building.   I offered a sympathetic ear and didn’t judge as they shared their stories. The big problem with KMHC is tenant Aunt Opie and I’m glad she didn’t attend the NWC program.   You may recall I spoke of her in past blogs, aunt Opie’s negativity spreads throughout KMHC.   She brags about sending false complaint e-mails about tenants and staff to Justin the head direc...

Sandy Holland

On February 27th 2025 I heard the passing of tenant Elder Sandy Holland. I knew she was in bad health and said to her friend she's ready to go.  I met her years ago when she moved to KMHC she seem a bit daffy yet in a nice way, never spoke mean about others but had strong opinions about UNH staff. We would meet at UNH dinner functions and meetings and always offered me hug. She never got personal sharing her life stories with me which I can respect. RIP
