It's been many years since I visited Six Nations.  Today a gym buddy and I drove to Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation Pow Wow & Traditional Gathering.   We arrived right on time for the opening ceremony.   It was a good day for a Pow Wow I found a great spot standing on a tree stump to take photos of the dancers, later we manage to find time to tour the native arts and craft display when suddenly the Creator decided to cast heavy rain showers.   The rain didn’t dampen our spirits some visitors waited around for it to pass then the Pow Wow continued.   Tenant Moosehead was there as a parking lot jockey and later I was totally blown away when I ran into Lesley-Anne Connell and her sons, her brother is one of my oldest friends.  Lesley-Ann's family is Scottish and for her to introduce her children to Native culture is a wonderful thing.  I gave her a hug and off she went to enjoy the Pow Wow.   Later my buddy and I decided to get a bite...

It’s that wonderful time of the year again.   Rent Review Yippee!   This year the rent review package was dated July 29 and I didn’t receive it in the mail until Aug 10.   Included was a unsigned letter from UNH’s requesting I sign a release of Information re: Native status.     After I examine the handwriting I notice it was from HSC Ingrid Nosel.   This annoyed me so I sent a reply back that I will not sign the form unless they comply to my instructions.   Back in January 2016 I notified UNH’s office via fax I have obtained my native status.   I requested the necessary form to be mailed to me then we can put this issue to rest.    So here we are 8 months later and I never received the form in the mail from UNH’s.   So who fucked up!   Sure as hell wasn’t me!  There is a earlier blog announcing I received my native status it was one of my highlights of the New Year.   After carefully examining the contents in th...

A few days ago I witnessed something that’s getting all too common in the KMHC building arguments and verbal outbursts among the tenants.   The main instigator is tenant Dean his Indian name is “Moosemeat”. I don’t know what’s wrong with him I assume the tectonic plate in his head is shifting again causing anger mood swings.   One morning I’m making breakfast when I heard shouting from the hallway, two male tenants are arguing in front of the office then it moved outside of the building. My windows were open so I could hear everything that was said.  “Moosemeat” was shouting accusations and abusive insults to the other tenant.   I immediately went outside just in case the argument got physical.   I know exactly what the other tenant Pete is going through ie: the harassment and bullying.   Years ago I ended my friendship with “Moosemeat” after observing his erratic strange behavior.   Later I forced myself to ignore his public insults then one day outsi...

As you know earlier this year UNH’s was forced to move out of their previous address thus invading the KMHC building, a lot of tenants were not pleased with the arrangement.   Those who live on my floor could hear loud chatter from the staff and the moving of office furniture. The low ceiling claustrophobic office reception area with harsh florescent lighting is cramped which is why I never liked entering.  There is only one washroom for staff located near my unit so at times I can hear them doing their “business” and beating up the paper towel dispenser afterwards. :D Aside from this there was one blonde young lady who stood out from all the rest I call her Miss Abby.   I would describe her as bubbly with a perky personality that brightened up the KMHC building. :)  Miss Abby reminded me of my favorite niece Tanya.   She has her own style of dress which I assume HSC Ingrid didn’t approve of.   I say this because years ago prudish Ingrid complain...

Food for the Gods Last Saturday morning I heard a knock on my door it was new tenant Linda W. she invited me to a breakfast buffet in her unit.   Actually she invited all KMHC tenant elders to help themselves to the ingredients to make a breakfast wrap.   I being a inquisitive person I had to ask where she got all the food apparently she has connections in the Native community.   Right on tenant Linda W. :)  I have to publicly thank the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre on Ottawa St. for the wonderful breakfast ingredients and for thinking of the KMHC native elders.   I saw the HRIC staff deliver the food containers then tenant Linda W. distributed the goodies.   HRIC is not affiliated with UNH’s therefore I was included in the food festivities plus tenant Linda W. is a great gal.   I met her years ago when she was the receptionist at UNH’s head office. :) UNH’s has a one day a week breakfast program at the “money pit” building in east Hamil...

You may be wondering what’s been happening around here since my last post.   My two previous tenant issue requests to UNH’s management has been ignored so I’m going to the next level.  We have new tenants @ KMHC a welcome to Linda, Joan and Albert may your living quarters be free of incident.  :) News - The HSC Ingrid made an error in judgement opening her big mouth to a KMHC tenant defending the UNH’s acting director’s nefarious past.   Those who are internet savvy and follow the local news know what really happened. It's understandable a mother’s need to make excuses for the  daughter.   Some parents will stand by their children regardless if they committed a heinous crime.   Interestingly HCS Ingrid also slammed my name during the conversation.   So who is the tenant you ask!   I call her Gladys Kravitz a nosy character from the classic TV show Bewitched.  Discretion has no meaning in her vocabulary and of course what Ingrid said ...

Sneaky Wilimina took this pix of I & two FB friends at City Hall. :) Woke up bright and early on Tuesday morning then looked out my window and notice the tall berry trees in front of the KMHC building need a good trimming.   Feeling energetic I decided to trim them myself if I had to wait for UNH’s to do it hell would freeze over.   Aboriginal day celebrations at Hamilton City Hall were scheduled for 11.30 am and I soon got ready.   When I arrived speeches by local dignitaries were in progress so I quietly joined the crowd in the back.   NDP leader Andrea Horwath was also on the podium when she was done her speech she walked by and said hello to my friend Wilamina who was standing next to me.   I just nod and smiled when Andrea looked my way.   I hope the Feds don’t come after me for saying this.  My Gosh, I was smitten!   In person the NDP leader is a lovely looking woman. :) Native speakers were next on the podium unfortunately ...
