Poor Working Environment

My unit is located near the KMHC office, along with a friendly wave or hello I see the junior staff going about their business in a cheerful manner with the exception of one employee.   You would think KMHC has a pleasant working environment but that is not the case.   March 2016 is when Urban Native Homes head office was forced to move from their former spacious location to the cramp basement level of KMHC.   There were approx. 8-10 staff members at the time.   Then the Urban Native Homes financial scandal broke out and soon after the current UNH acting director’s illicit past became public knowledge, everyone was worried will they have a job.  Fearful meetings going on in the community room, the rumor mill was in full rotation while I just stood back and observed the panic.   Check your search engine it states this building location is Urban Native Homes head office yet that is not correct.  There is no real head office, the organization has s...

What a Surprise!

Over the summer I avoid gossip mongers who sit in the courtyard especially one who doesn't care sitting in bird poop and recently got a strap caught on the bench and nearly wiped out, that was funny. :D   Anyway I moved on to other activities away from the building. ie: Visiting friends and exploring the city via SoBi bike, being more sociable with fellow YMCA members.  Attending program/events hosted by organizations in the downtown community.   Last week for health reasons I decided to attend a program hosted by Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre in the KMHC community room.   The topic was diabetes I felt I needed a refresher course about proper nutrition and exercise.   The program was informative yet I was a bit annoyed when two women attendees swayed off topic by describing in detail about their latest gale bladder operation.   It’s just something I do not want to hear.   Eventually my goal was accomplished I have current reading mat...

Annual Unit Inspection 2017

It's not Phil but the clipboard is a match. :). I’ve been a UNH tenant for too many years and I’ve seen and heard it all at KMHC.   One issue tenants have is the”24 hour notice to enter unit.”   Finally after all this time UNH’s wrote a less intrusive and more convenient “24 hour notice to enter unit” form by narrowing the time of entry to AM or PM.   The notice was taped to my door & once I read it I raised the sheet of paper in front of the surveillance camera and gave thumbs up. I always like to be present when an inspection is required by the landlord.   The contractors/inspectors and UNH staff don’t realize I observe their demeanor and how they handle my belongings.   All the while I keep out of their way, last thing a worker needs is a tenant looking over their shoulder. First to knock on my door was the exterminator and his female assistant.   They are to inspect for bedbugs and I’m glad to announce I’m bedbug-free.   The b...
