Another Tenant Has Left Us.

This afternoon I received the sad news another fellow tenant and friend Mr. Howard Moses has passed away.   Howard had the title of longest tenant to reside at KMHC.   Truly if there is one native elder who deserves the utmost honor and respect is Howard.   He & I got along well, when I first moved here a small group of tenants would sit outside where the park bench used to be and socialize about life and all kinds of shite.   Laughter was abundant from Howard to little Debbie.   I would sometimes drop by his unit for a visit, I liked and respected the man he would share stories about his war years and laugh at the silly times in his life. For the past few years his participation to UNH’s programs and events declined, I didn’t see him around the building much unless at the entrance.   Just before the Christmas holidays 2016 Howard had a terrible fall in his unit and had to be hospitalized.   Later when he recovered enough to come home I saw ...

Fire Alarm Inspection 2017

Life Saving Smoke Alarm On Friday a “24 Hour Notice to Enter Unit” was taped to my door from UNH’s, it had the usual writings regarding time and date of inspection etc.   Then two sentences that were never written in previous notices caught my eye.  “Photos may be taken during the time of inspection” and another was “Should the tenant be out and have a security alarm system UNH’s would like the pass code”.   After reading the notice my immediate thoughts were UNH’s maintenance dept. is smoking dope during office hours and not sharing. :P  I immediately typed up a reply letter stating UNH’s staff will NOT be allowed to enter my unit to take random pictures without my permission and approval, and if needed we can take the issue to the Landlord and Tenant Tribunal Board for arbitration.   I’m an advocate for tenant privacy and I recall a few years ago UNH’s took pictures of former tenant Shirley’s unit who’s a lonely widow.   The tenant told me she p...

Highs and Lows

Since my last post it’s been boring and mundane around the KMHC building then last week while leaving my unit I saw former KMHC superintendent Jan Porter in the hallway.   With exclamation I smiled and I said Hey Jan what a nice surprise seeing you! :)   She was wearing a blue uniform which reminds me of a paramedic.   She works for another company now and I assume she was here as a contractor or doing an inspection.   Anyway I had to give her a big hug then I was on my way.   Since she was standing at the office door I should have whispered in her ear “the place has gone to shit since you left” but I’m sure she noticed the decline. :P  Back then the woman worked hard keeping KMHC in ship-shape and today it looks like the ship has sunk.   I’m still waiting for a response to a maintenance work order I submitted in December 2016. Other news - Tenant Sue had passed away over the weekend, she lived in a unit down the hall from me and once ...
