Odrohekta Men’s Residence

Ever wonder what happens after a single person dies in their unit/apt!   Usually a neighbor, family or friend would notice something is odd and call the authorities to check on the tenant.   In the summer of 2015 at the UNH’s men’s residence located in west Hamilton a tenant died in their room.   What’s shocking UNH’s management found his body six weeks later, by that time the body is mostly liquefied and the stench would knock over a horse.  How did this happen?   Here’s my question:   why did the UNH’s on-premise staff not notice the tenant is missing and ignored the clues of death.   I hope whoever was responsible for keeping an eye on the tenants and building were reprimanded or better still dismissed. There are those who believe UNH’s management arranged a cover up by an all-out fully paid Native funeral ceremony, which includes native drumming, songs, food and made all the staff attend in hopes the family of the deceased will not file legal...

RIP Big Pete

Sadly this morning I’ve been informed fellow tenant Sydney aka Big Pete has passed away due to cancer.   I first met the burly man about 5 years ago back then he hung out with former tenant Bonnie Hill, in the early evening they would sit outside when the KMHC park bench was located near the entrance door.   Eventually he applied and moved to KMHC he obtained a unit on the top floor, soon after he noticed the KMHC/UNH's bureaucracy and basically stayed away from it all. He'd make amusing comments about UNH's so called "Mandate". :P   He was an intelligent man, we had many conversations about UNH’s and I’m glad to say we were on the same page. In the beginning he was one of the few tenants I passed my blog site link to, he followed my posts regularly.   He would share his life stories and travels which I found interesting.   He wasn’t the type of person to sit idling around the apt, always on the move doing something active outside of KMHC.   I l...

What A Difference A Day Makes.

Laughter A few days ago I mildly sprained my ankle and I’m recuperating by taking it easy.   So this morning my neighbor Miss Judy called and asked if I’d do an errand for her.   I replied sure this will give me a chance to get out and exercise my injury plus being cooped up at KMHC will drive me nuts.    As I was leaving my apt I heard strange noises coming from the KMHC office, it was a tenant talking to HOW Lynda.   When the tenant and I walked to the elevator I said “Holy Shit!   I thought you two were making out!”   She gushed and said No, I was explaining the sound coming from my dog.   The topics of discussion in this place are quite funny and strange.   :D   Speaking about funny and strange. Walking home from my errand for Miss Judy I could see HSC Ingrid sitting in her grey van trying to be inconspicuous by staring at her cell phone.   Five minutes later there she is standing at the KMHC entrance looking confused whil...

The Effects Of Downsizing

It’s unfortunate the UNH’s organization is struggling and forced to downsize staff and operations, sell the head office building in effort to pay off a very large debt while carrying on the facade everything is fine and dandy.   Today I had lunch with a friend of many years, he’s the VP of a well-established catalog mail order retail business in Canada and the USA, during our lunch conversation I asked how could a non- profit organization (UNH’s) fall into a 1 million dollar debt!    He briefly explained business mismanagement and possible corruption and someone dipped into the cookie jar.    (As Tony gives UNH’s the evil eye.) The past few days have been interesting around here.   UNH’s head office is moving to the KMHC building.  New office furniture cubicles were delivered and set up in a small area of the KMHC building what use to be the warehouse.  The KMHC building maintenance has gone to shit and I seriously mean it. Due to the unseaso...
