The Eagle Feather

On Wednesday Urban Native Homes Inc. hosted a luncheon honoring the Eagle Feather and what it symbolizes in our Native culture.  Guest speaker Walter Cooke did an excellent presentation and I got the opportunity to chat with him. Even though we tenants received an open invitation I had not idea what to expect when I walked in the community room most in attendance were the UNH’s employees and only 8 tenants showed up. Awkward moment – When Walter signaled the Director to sit at our table I could tell by her body language she didn’t want to but reluctantly sat down anyway.  Can you imagine Tony King & the UNH’s Director sitting and dining at the same table, sort of like The Iron Lady sits with Chief Crazy Horse. :D *It should be noted according to the history books Chief Crazy Horse was a handsome man.*  ;) Funny moments – Standing in the buffet line I decided to tease the computer guy which in turn made Tammy T. laugh.  Charles was a good host in offering u...

Social Media

There’s been a lot of discussion on many social and news media websites and TV talk shows in regard to what information should be written on the internet. I’m all for honest opinions and the truth which is why I’m so passionate about my blog website it serves me no purpose to knowingly post false claims or information about any organization or individual. In the summer of 2011 I sent an e-mail invitation to six various UNH’s staff members to read this blog then all of a sudden UNH’s went on the defensive and in an attempt to shut me up they acquired Elizabeth Repchuck’s services by sending me a strong worded letter to stop.  That didn’t work so in an effort to discredit me UNH’s posted Wikipedia information about “internet trolls” on the bulletin board and community room plus a staff member decided to slide a copy under my door. Ha! What’s so ironic I suspect the Director or the HSC did some trolling on this site as profiler “TravestyBrant”. :P  It’s time for corporati...

Bye Bye 2011, Hello 2012

2011 what a year eh?......This blog has caused a lot of sleepless nights for Urban Native Homes Inc. and rightly so.  Policies and attitudes need to be changed and let’s start by listening to the tenants, after all if it were not for us you guys wouldn’t have a job.  There are times when I talk to the staff or read their notices they make it sound like the name Urban Native Homes Inc. is an all powerful entity and should not be questioned....but in reality it's just a renovated shack on a residential side street in east Hamilton. LOL  Probably UNH's biggest blunder is back in early 2011 when my request for a unit transfer due to medical reasons was denied, applause to Tammy T. if she made the right decision many of these blogs would not exist: :P  Just think I could have been on another floor and far way from the office shenanigans, the staff could run around naked in the basement hallways for all I care.   My biggest disappointment - When I walke...
